Introduction to Data Protection and Cyber Security

This session will introduce you to the main principles underpinning the Data Protection Act 1998 and how to put these into practice. It will also introduce you to the concept of cyber security and identify some of the steps you may need to take in order to protect your digital systems and data.
Who is this course suitable for?
The session would be of particular help to anyone with responsibilities for the day-to-day operation of your organisation including trustees, managers and line managers. It would also be of particular help to anyone working within Information Technology (IT)
What does the course cover?
This course will help you:
Understand the Data Protection Act
Put the key features of the Data Protection Act into practice
Understand the importance of Cyber Security?
Take steps to protect your digital systems and data
How does a web conference work?

You will need access to the Internet and to be able to hear sound through your computer
Participants will require a reasonable understanding of English
To access this course free of charge you will need to be currently working for a voluntary or community organisation based in Leicester or Leicestershire. Organisations who do not meet these requirements will be asked to pay
