  • QOF indicators and diabetes
  • Nice guidelines
  • Blood results and what they can show
  • Blood glucose control and measurement
  • How to recognise signs of vascular disease and neuropathic conditions
  • Essential foot care
  • Medication - how it works & its side effects
  • Recognising hypoglycaemia and its treatment and management
  • The impact of diabetes on clients and their families Lifestyle choices and giving correct advice


THIS TRAINING IS FOR HEALTH CARE ASSISTANTS AND NURSES WHO ARE NEW TO PRACTICE NURSING

The purpose of the training will be to increase knowledge and understanding of the 9 care processes for diabetes care; BP, HbA1c, creatinine, cholesterol, ACR, BMI, foot assessment retinal screening and smoking history. A list of competencies will be provided to work towards and to be assessed against by your clinical supervisor. Individual indemnity cover will dictate what an individual HCA is allowed to undertake under direct/ indirect supervision.

This course will be presented by a Diabetes Specialist Nurse.
