About this event

In this course, you will immerse yourself in the captivating world of draping techniques as you embark on a journey to create a stunning basic bodice featuring expertly crafted darts.

You will discover the art of draping a bodice with darts. But what exactly is a dart? This magical technique transforms a flat piece of fabric into a three-dimensional masterpiece. By mastering the skill of draping, you will gain the ability to shape garments with precision. Additionally, you will learn how to drape various necklines, including a cowl neck.

Draping is not just a technique; it serves as a canvas for your imagination, allowing you to explore and express your creativity in ways you never thought possible. As you experiment with fabric, each twist and fold will inspire you to create original designs that reflect your unique vision.

The course is taught by designer John Herrera, a tutor at FCFTA. In February 2015, John first presented his collection at the International Fashion Showcase during London Fashion Week, produced by the British Fashion Council. He has since showcased in Tokyo and London with Fashion Scout and recently made his debut at Paris Fashion Week. His AW25 collection, entitled “Femme à la Mode,” has already been featured in Tatler and has gained recognition from fashion’s toughest audience.

This course will be held over two consecutive Saturdays, during which John will cover the fundamentals of draping. By the end of the second session, you will be able to confidently drape on a mannequin with your own design.
