Event Details

Transactional Analysis is used widely in educational establishments throughout Europe. This course is designed for teachers, trainers, support staff and anyone involved in the learning process of adults or children or those who have already been involved in TA training.

Transactional Analysis offers a really useful way of understanding the dynamics of the group, the individuals process and our responses to learners and the learning environment. It provides us with tools to consider and adapt our personal style to better support ourselves and others. In this two day course, we will apply the key concepts of transactional analysis to the educational environment and explore how they can be applied to school and classroom management techniques and relationships between staff and students. This in turn can then impact emotional wellbeing of staff and students.

The weekday course will include taught material covering ideas about education, different perspectives on teaching and learning practice, within a TA frame of reference. The format will also involve experiential activities drawing on personal experience of being schooled, learning from educators and being an educator.  The aim of the workshop is to provide an introduction to what it means to be an educational transactional analyst as well as reconnecting with what it means for us to be learners and educators.

Who is it for: Anybody interested in teaching and learning.  The workshop will be particularly relevant for school teachers, adult trainers and informal educators.

Tutor: Giles Barrow is a teaching and supervising transactional analyst in the field of education.  He is also a qualified teacher and has had experience in both mainstream and specialist schools.  Giles spent much of his career establishing local authority support services for schools.  He now works with a range of different professional and community groups involved in education.  In addition to this direct work Giles also trains and supervises educational TA practitioners.  When he gets the time he enjoys writing about theory and practice and has authored and edited a range of publications on TA, education, educational leadership, teaching and learning

A Link Centre CPD certificate will be presented at the end of the workshop.

Cancellation Policy: 50% refund will be given on cancellations with more than 7 days’ notice.
