Description

Aims

Every person carrying out electrofishing should attend this course. This course aims to highlight the health and safety aspects of electrofishing. The correct methods of electrofishing with a back pack and generator system are covered in theory and practical sessions. As well as reinforcing the health and safety. Fish identification and processing fish are taught and practised as well as setting stop nets.

Client Group

Those working in fisheries management who are catching fish using electro fishing techniques, or environmental or ecology consultants who are monitoring fish populations or carrying out fish surveys.

Award

The Scottish Fisheries Coordination Centre (SFCC) certificate.

Level 2 Catch Fish Using Electrofishing Techniques SVQ Unit

Background

Working with water and electricity has potential risks. Inverness College UHI in collaboration with the SFCC have been delivering this course to ensure that those working with electrofishing equipment do so to the correct standards.
