Each and Every Child is about telling a new story. This story looks to build and improve public support for the vision outlined by The Promise and the Plan 21-24. To help with this challenge, we’re changing how we speak about care experience, using framing recommendations from the FrameWorks Institute’s research into public attitudes to care experience in Scotland.

The Introduction to Framing and Framing Care Experience webinar will introduce participants to framing and how it can be used to improve the lives of people with care experience now and in the future. It will talk through the different methods for using framing and will explore insights from our body of research on care experience and child development. Content will include:

What is framing, and what does it mean for how we tell our stories?

How can we change public thinking about care experience?

What are issue frames, values, metaphor and context and how can these be used to tell a new story?

What are mental shortcuts? What triggers them - and what are the consequences for communicators?

Using explanations to drive progressive action across your work and society.

Who is this session for?

This webinar is for all people who have an interest in understanding how the langauge we use can impact the lives of people with lived experience of care. This session is not just for those with specific communications roles – it is for all people who have an interest in care and care experience and who are committed to improving the lives of people with care experience.

Workshop details

There will be a maximum of 70 people at this session. The session will be delivered over Zoom and will last 2 hours with a break.

This webinar will mainly be in a presentation format, with opportunity to contribute over the chat function. We will be offering further additional sessions for you to continue to explore the framing recommendations, which will be advertised on our website.

The session will be run by Claire O’Hara and Michael Wield, Each and Every Child.
