Learn how to use your sewing machine for free machine embroidery - drawing with your sewing machine - in this inspiring workshop.
What we will do
This class is suitable for complete beginners, who would love to know how to use their sewing machine more as a drawing tool. During the workshop you’ll learn how to set up your machine for free machine embroidery, how to select the right fabric and threads for your desired outcome.
By the end of the workshop not only will you feel more confident in using your sewing machine for free machine embroidery, you will have created some simple designs, explored both raw and smooth edge applique as well as learning granite stitch and how to write with your sewing machine.
What you need to bring
You will need to bring your own sewing machine, with bobbins and free motion embroidery foot. You will need to know how to drop or cover the feed dogs. Almost every machine is suitable for free machine embroidery; if you are unsure about your machine, please contact me with the make and model and I’ll be happy to help.
Please make sure that your sewing machine is in good working order prior to the workshop as spare machines are not available.
The Venue
The workshop is held at The Weigh To Shop, Durham from 2- 5pm. The shop is closed to the public whilst the workshop is on; however you are welcome to browse, stock up on products and buy refreshments during the workshop. It's a combined workshop and private shopping experience!
