Introduction to Garden History Course 5
Mon 16 October 2017, 10:30 – 13:00 BST
Garden history encapsulates a fascinating amalgam of art, architectural, landscape, social, literary and horticultural history as well as archaeology and the evolution of garden design. We're working with the Birkbeck Garden History Group (BGHG) and The Gardens Trust who want to encourage the study of garden history by introducing the subject to people who have not been involved in it previously, although they may have an interest in one or more of the disciplines mentioned above.
Following the success of our ‘taster’ study days and previous introductory courses BGHG and The Gardens Trust are now supporting a new 6 week introductory course at the Institute of Historical Research in Bloomsbury, which is the world’s leading centre for research into all aspects of History, and runs the country’s only MA course in Garden History. For more information on BGHG or TGT visit their websites: http://thegardenstrust.org and https://birkbeckgardenhistorygroup.wordpress.com
The course tutors will be Letta Jones, M.A. & Stephen Smith, M.A.
Classes will be small [max size 16] with lively illustrated lectures, opportunities for discussion and further personal reading & research suggestions if you wish. We often have a waiting list for places so if you book a place but are unable to use it for any reason, then email us and we will try and resell it if we can. In that case we will be happy to refund your payment less Eventbrite's fees, otherwise we regret we cannot offer a refund.
