    About this event

    About this event

This is an introductory workshop exploring gender diversity, which aims to increase awareness of gender diversity and the roles we can take in supporting people who are trans, gender diverse and/or gender non-conforming.

    Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is for anyone who wants to understand more about gender diversity and how to support gender non-conforming people. You could be working with gender diverse people, be a friend, family member or parent of someone who is gender diverse, and/or want to understand your own gender more. This workshop would be beneficial to those in professions such as teaching, therapy, youth work, community support, social work, equality and diversity or HR.

    What will the workshop cover?

    • Reflecting on your own gender and your awareness of gender
    • Understanding gender as Bio-Psycho-Social
    • Understanding key terms relating to gender and trans issues
    • Understanding what’s happening with trans rights in the World/UK
    • Reflecting on the actions that you can take to support the trans community

The workshop will be on zoom. It will be three hours long with a 15 minute break, and will involve personal reflection, presentation of information, group discussion and discussion in small breakout rooms.

After the workshop you will receive a document with key terms and information from the workshop and a list of further resources for you to explore. You will also receive a 3 hour CPD certificate.

    Who is running the workshop?

The workshop is facilitated by Rowan Hyde (they/them) and Ellis Beardsmore (they/them). They are both psychotherapy students with their own lived experience of exploring gender diversity.

What have people said about the workshop?

Previous participants have given the following feedback:-

'The workshop was thoughtfully put together, balancing teaching and self-reflection, and relating to the joys as well as the difficulties in the topic. I felt very supported to learn and appreciate the care and warmth with which Ellis and Rowan held and facilitated the group.'

'Thanks so much to both of you! I really enjoyed this short workshop. It felt like it was done with a lot of love and care.'

100% of people who previously attended the workshop would recommend it to others.

    How much does it cost?

You can choose what you pay based on your circumstances – you won’t be asked for any proof/ID, we just ask that you are honest! (Thanks to the Scottish Queer International Film Festival for the sliding scale descriptors)
