Introduction to good governance
Event Information
Description
You are responsible for the management of your charity, place of worship or voluntary organisation. You have read the Charity Commission leaflets but you know that putting it into practice is not so easy. You have questions and you want to do this work in the best way you can. This workshop will guide you through the fundamentals of good governance, and help you to understand the principles behind effective governance and strategic direction. In the workshop we will look at practical examples drawn from faith perspectives; we will look at apparent problem areas and discuss how good governance can be a fulfilment of faith values. This workshop is for you whether you are called a trustee, a director, a management committee, council or board member and is primarily for those relatively new to the role.
The workshop will be led by FbRN’s Senior Consultant, Steve Miller who is a social entrepreneur, community activist and independent consultant. Steve has over 35 years’ experience in the voluntary sector and has been responsible for forming or co-creating various third sector organisations including Tzedek, Restore Community Projects and North London Action for the Homeless. Steve is a facilitator assisting many groups with organisational dynamics, strategic planning, creativity and leadership development.
Registration from 1.00pm. Workshop 1.30-4.30pm. Followed by tea/refreshments and an opportunity to network with participants and FbRN staff.
