Event description
Learn how to draft existing clothing patterns into different sizes!

About this event

This brand spanking new workshop focuses on the process of 'grading', which is the technique of making clothing patterns into different sizes.

For example, if you have found that fabulous vintage pattern, and it is cut to a specific size, with the skills learned, you will be able to grade that vintage pattern into any size you like.

Craig, your host, will show you how to grade up and grade down sizes. You will learn two techniques which can be used in all areas of pattern making, womenswear, menswear and childrenswear.

Workshop Breakdown:

First hour:

We will focus on a unisex short sleeve T-shirt pattern, using the 'Shift' method. You will be given a formula to work with, that you can take home and use again and again.

Second hour:

In the second half of the class, Craig will show you the 'Slash and Spread' method, using a unisex drawstring shorts pattern.

Once you have worked on both methods, you will be taking home all the worksheets needed for you to use again at home, plus your own hand drafted pattern for all sizes XS, S, M, L, XL

This is great workshop, to extend your knowledge of pattern cutting. This technique is also great in conjunction with our Clone your Clothes workshop. If you have a garment that is too small (or big) you can copy the garment, in our Clone workshop and then use the grading technique to make your pattern smaller or bigger, to your requirements.
