Introduction to Grief Tending in Community
Overview
A Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Workshop for End of Life Doulas
Grief touches every part of life - yet in our modern culture, it’s often faced alone, or maybe with a therapist, or not spoken of at all. This online CPD workshop offers an introduction to grief tending in community: an approach that honours grief as a shared, transformative and healing process rooted in ancestral and contemporary traditions.
Through a blend of presentation, discussion, and gentle experiential practice, we will:
· Explore the history and lineage of grief tending in community
· Develop understanding of the many faces of grief — not only personal loss and bereavement, but also the grief we/our clients carry for the world, the planet, our communities, and parts of ourselves.
· Discover ways to hold grief collectively and safely for yourself and others
· Deepen our grief literacy and confidence in meeting grief — for ourselves and those we support
This session offers an opportunity to experience a taste of communal grief tending in a safe, supportive container, while deepening your understanding of how to integrate this work into your personal and professional life.
Whether you’re seeking to expand your capacity to accompany others in grief, or to become more comfortable with your own relationship to grief, this heart-led workshop offers a nourishing opportunity to grow in confidence, compassion and connection, recognising grief as a natural and vital part of our shared humanity.
