An introduction to the legal definitions of Priority Need, Local Connection, Intentionality and Homelessness itself.

About this event

We once got someone who had been homeless for 16 years housed in social housing with just 2 hours work, simply by understanding and using the Homelessness Law.

He still lives there, 5 years on.

This training has been designed to equip professionals who support people who are rough sleeping, are at risk of domestic abuse, or who cannot afford their home, so that they can get quickly housed, using a working understanding or priority need, intentional homelessness, local connection and homelessness itself.

On completion of this course you will have:

-An awareness and basic understanding of Homelessness Legislation.

-An understanding of the legal definitions of homelessness, priority need, intentional homelessness and local connection.

-The information needed to know when a homeless application is appropriate.

-A practical understanding of how to help someone make a strong application for housing assistance.

-An awareness of other statutory help relevant to homeless people.

This training is worth 5.75 hours of CPD.
