This a 2 day course taking place on 18 and 19th March 2026. You MUST attend both days in full to be eligible for certification.
This course is for Registered Healthcare Professionals and complies with National Minimum Standards and Core Curriculum for Vaccination Training
Foundations of Immunisation – Core Modules
- The aims of immunisation, national vaccine policy and schedules
- The immune response to vaccines and how vaccines work
- Vaccine preventable diseases
- Different types of vaccines, their composition, indications and contraindications
- Current issues in vaccination
- Communicating with patients, parents and carers
- Legal issues as applied to vaccination: consent and legal mechanisms to supply and administer vaccines
- Storage and handling of vaccines
- Correct administration of vaccines
- Anaphylaxis and adverse reactions
- Documentation, record keeping and reporting
- Strategies for optimising vaccination uptake
