Welcome to the Introduction to Indian Block Printing Workshop!
Immerse yourself in the creative world of Indian Block Printing at the wonderful Harmston Memorial Hall. This full day workshop offers ample time to explore, experiment and enjoy this traditional craft in a relaxing and inspiring environment.
Introduction to Indian Block Printing 6 hour workshop 10:00 am - 4:00 pm at Harmston Memorial Hall, School Lane, Harmston, Lincoln, LN5 9SP.
This introductory Workshop is suitable for all levels, beginners and experienced printers are welcome.
After a warm welcome and introduction, you will browse through an extensive collection of carved wooden blocks, choose your favourites and select your textile colours. I will then provide a detailed demonstration of the techniques, tools and equipment required for you to begin your creative journey.
In the morning you will test your selected designs and colours on practice fabric, building your confidence as you try different techniques. You will then move on to printing your own fabric items which will include: a drawstring bag, tote bag, and tea towel.
After lunch (not provided, please bring something with you), having gained experience during the morning, you will move on to print either a scarf or cushion cover.
On completion of your fabric projects, you can move on to print a selection of paper and stationery items, such as cards, tags and gift wrap or tissue paper.
There will be additional blank items available on the day to purchase if required together will a small selection of Indian Block Printing kits and supplies. If you see something on the Indian Block Print Co website prior to the workshop which you would like me to order and bring along, please send me a message.
What's included: use of all blocks and paints, stationery items including: tags, cards and paper, fabric items including: drawstring bag, tote bag, tea towel, scarf or cushion cover.
Refreshments including tea/coffee, cake (a workshop essential) and biscuits will be provided. Please let me know if you have any food allergies or other health issues I should be aware of, so I can best meet your individual needs.
What to bring:
- Lunch - please bring some lunch with you. There is a fridge at Harmston Hall.
- please bear in mind that you will be working with fabric paints which do not wash out! Aprons will be provided (please bring your own if you prefer), but 'doesn't matter clothes' are ideal to wear for this workshop.
