Introduction to Letterpress Printing 3: Lasercut for Letterpress Printing
Sun 11 June 2017, 10:00 – 17:00 BST
Join us for a unique opportunity to learn how new lasercutting technologies can be incorporated with traditional letterpress printing to create high quality prints.
We will begin the day at the studio of Thomas Mayo & Co, a friend of LCBA and local letterpress printer who specialises in lasercutting. There, participants will be introduced to the process of turning artwork into lasercut plates and blocks, and Thomas will demonstrate how the plates are then cut on the machine.
We will then head over to the LCBA print studio and participants will be introduced to the process of letterpress printing by Simon Goode, the founding director of LCBA. Everyone will have an opportunity to print an edition specially designed for the class using the lasercut plates from the morning.
All tools and materials provided. Open to all abilities, but ideally suited for those who have already taken Introduction to Letterpress Printing 1 and/or 2.
