About this event

The venue for the workshop is The Greenhouse Project: a Nature and Wellbeing community space for growing vegetables, fruit & wildflowers as well as providing facilities for bushcraft, craft and woodworking and community events. All proceeds from the workshop will go towards continuing to run and develop this community site.

Workshop activities

Join Artist Ian Halawi and learn the basics of lino printing. You'll be taking inspiration from the plants and flowers in and around the greenhouse and learn how to create a design suited to relief printing by simplifying botanical forms and carving them into an A6 sheet of soft cut lino. Also, you'll learn how to ink your lino consistently and print your block by hand.

This hands-on workshop is designed for complete beginners—no prior experience needed, just curiosity and enthusiasm!

Practical information

Please wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty and note that printing ink will stain freshly manicured nails. Aprons will be provided.

Also note that the act of carving can be strenuous for those with more delicate joints on their hands.

Refreshments

Hot drinks will be provided, but please bring along snacks if needed.

Parking

Car parking in Witton Country Park is 5 minutes walk away (£2 for the day) in the Witton Arena Car Park - BB2 2TP, off  Preston Old Road entrance.  There is disabled parking available close to the site; accessible via a radar key or prior arrangement an accessible toilet is also available nearby. Please contact us if you have any mobility problems and we will do our best to ensure you can access the workshop.

We are based inside the Park within the old stable yard on the right.  The exact location using what3words is ///almost.rewarding.wool
