Introduction to Linocut Printing

The course is for beginners and aims to be relaxed and fun. We will introduce you to the

medium, the tools and the basic techniques involved in making a one colour linocut print.

You will learn how to cut away lino and create different marks and effects. There will be the

opportunity to print by hand as well as having a go at printing on a press – to compare and

contrast the different effects. On completion of the course you will be able to carve, ink and

print using linoleum, have your own prints to take home and the confidence to continue this form of printmaking on your own or in a studio.

Please come to the session with ideas for your own prints, old clothes and an apron.

We will provide all the materials you need including lino, carving tools, printing inks , rollers,

paper and presses. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided as required but do either bring a packed lunch or be ready to buy one locally during the lunchbreak.
