About this event

Holiday • Christmas

Come and get creative with us this season as we dive into the timeless craft of linocut printing. Perfect for beginners, this workshop will guide you through the basics of carving and printing, with a festive twist.

We’ll take inspiration from the magic of winter – think frosty landscapes, twinkling trees, and Christmas motifs – to create your own hand-printed designs. Whether you’d like to make a stack of personalised Christmas cards, gift tags, or a special print to hang on the wall, you’ll leave with something truly one-of-a-kind.

You’ll learn:

  • How to safely use linocut tools and carve your first block.
  • Tips for turning simple sketches into bold, striking prints.
  • How to ink up and print your design by hand.

All materials are provided. No prior experience needed – just bring your ideas (and maybe a favourite winter doodle or two).

Take a little time out of the Christmas rush, slow down, and make something beautiful with your own hands.

This session is delivered by Zoe from Mustard and Gray, the creative force behind the Shropshire studio. Zoe’s work is inspired by the landscapes and rhythms of the natural world, with a playful design-led approach that brings personality to every piece.

With years of experience in printmaking, teaching, illustration and contemporary craft, Zoe is passionate about making creativity accessible to everyone. Her workshops are relaxed, welcoming spaces where you can try something new, enjoy the process, and leave with skills (and artwork) to be proud of.

Expect plenty of encouragement, down-to-earth tips, and a good dose of Mustard and Gray’s signature style – and always a little bit fun.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need any experience?

Not at all! This workshop is designed for complete beginners as well as those who’ve dabbled before. We’ll guide you through each step.

What will I make?

You’ll design and carve your own linocut block, then print it onto cards, tags or paper to take home. Perfect for Christmas gifting.

Are materials provided?

Yes, everything you need is included – lino, tools, inks, card & paper.

Can I bring my own design?

Absolutely. Simple line drawings work best. If you’d rather, we’ll have seasonal templates to get you started.

How messy will it be?

Inky fingers are part of the fun! We’ll provide aprons, but maybe don’t wear your best Christmas jumper.

How many people will be in the workshop?

We keep groups small so everyone gets plenty of space and one-to-one guidance.

Is this suitable for children?

Linocut tools are sharp, so this workshop is best for adults and older teens (14+ with an accompanying adult).
