Event description
Create original linocut Christmas cards from the comfort of your own home

About this Event

Join professional printmaker Lou Tonkin for this special virtual workshop introducing the basic techniques of linocutting. Inspired by our exhibition Works In Progress, you’ll learn how to turn your sketches into a finished design that you can send to friends and family this Christmas.

We’ll send all the materials to you in advance, including an Essee Lino Cutting Taster Kit. The kit includes two pieces of easy-to-carve softcut lino, essential lino cutters, 100ml of premium quality water-based block printing ink and a 45mm ink roller.

All you’ll need is a workspace (a kitchen table is ideal), a pen/pencil and a device with internet access. Please make a few sketches of festive symbols – eg a robin, mistletoe, holly, Christmas tree, bauble – in advance to use as the basis of your final design.

Suitable for absolute beginners. Linocutting starter kit, blank cards and newsprint included. We will mail the kits 7-10 days before the event. You will need your own pen or pencil.
