Mendeley can save you hours of time with your referencing!
Bibliographic software systems, such as Mendeley, are programmes that allow you to keep track of all you references. Mendeley is free (up to 2GB of PDFs), and you can use it both with software available for download to your computer, as well as with a web-based version.
It is available on all classroom PCs in the University and can be downloaded for free to your Mac or PC. It is particularly useful if you use a lot of PDFs as it is very good at importing and organising PDFs for you. It also has a large online community allowing you to find articles that others have saved in the same area.
Using the Word plug-in toolbar, you can automatically format the references into the style (e.g. APA, Harvard, Chicago) that your School requires when writing your essay or dissertation. It will also generate your bibliography for you!
Who can attend?
Our sessions are open only to matriculated students at the University of St Andrews. Unfortunately, we are not able to open sessions to members of the public or students from other institutions.
Do I need to book a place?
Yes. Places are limited to 8 students per session. Click the 'Register' button above to sign up for a place at this session. Please use your University email address.
What if the session is fully booked?
You can still register for a place on the waiting list. If someone else cancels, we will contact you to offer you a place using the email address you gave us when you signed up.
Where is the session?
The session will take place in the Level 3 Teaching Room, Main Library, North Street.
There will be signposts guiding to you to the Teaching Room but please ask a member of staff at the Helpdesk for directions if you are unfamiliar with this part of the building.
