Event description

Description

We are hosting an introduction to mindfulness session at the Guildhall in Bath on the 1st of September to raise money for a community social enterprise that will be built (by adventurefrome.org) in the local area. Everyone can benefit and everyone is welcome.

Mindfulness is a process of bringing your attention to the present moment.

Learning to be aware of your thoughts and to let them go has been scientifically proven to improve well-being through stress reduction, self-regulation of emotions, and can even bring positive structural changes to the brain that increase memory and reduce the flight-or-fight response associated with anxiety.

This evening taster session is an opportunity for those interested in learning about mindfulness to experience what meditation is like. It will also be useful as a refresher of mindfulness tools and for people to complement personal practice with a group meditation.

Read about the event and the teacher leading the session below!

What will I learn?

This session offers attendees an engaging introduction to the essential tools in mindfulness.

Throughout this interactive presentation you will gain insight into the health benefits of practicing mindfulness, as well as experience a guided meditation and develop the skills necessary to continue practice at home.

Expect to leave the session with a clear understanding of mindfulness and a clear head with which to start your weekend!

Who is the session leader?

Annie Rankin has been teaching mindfulness and meditation for nearly 20 years, and has been practising personally for nearly 30.

Annie is the founder of Live Connection, a company that coaches people and professional teams to develop effective communication skills. Previously, Annie worked for a decade as a writer and editor for UK national newspapers and as the Director of Communications for an international charity.

Annie's work at Live Connection and her extensive experience teaching mindfulness training put her in an excellent position to introduce and guide you in mindfulness meditation.

Where is the session being held?

We believe that the atmosphere that you meditate can completely change your experience. For that reason this Introduction to Mindfulness course will be held in the Guildhall in the centre of Bath.

Guildhall is a beautiful, historical, Georgian building built in 1775. Its large windows and high ceilings create a light and open space that will help you to relax in to mindfulness. Those of you that would like to learn a little about the history of the building are welcome to stick around afterwards to admire the neo-classical designs and decorations in the room.

**Friends offer: buy 4 adult tickets and get one free.*.

**Family offer: two adults and two children for £50.**

(Please contact us for the deals).

Proceeds from this event are fundraising for a social community project in the local Bath area and will go toward improving the lives of the local community.

All ages are welcome although we gently remind parents that their children have to be quite so not to disturb others whilst meditating.

We look forward to seeing you there!
