Do I have to be an artist to do this course?

Accepted Answer

No, everyone will be  either learning the techniques and processes from scratch (beginner)or have a very basic knowledge (refresher).You will need a simple image or design to work with but I can help you with that. It is more important to begin with something very simple when starting out.

Question 2

What if I have to miss some sessions, will I be able to catch up?n

Accepted Answer

Yes, although an 8 week course might seem like a big commitment,  it is designed for flexibility and to allow people to work at their own pace. The small group size means that I can give everyone more individual attention.

Question 3

What do I need to bring to the sessions?

Accepted Answer

It's not particularly messy, but it would be useful to bring an apron or something to protect your clothes from woodchips and watercolour, also reading glasses etc. for close work if you need them. You might also like to bring any special drinks or refreshments you like.

Can I park outside the building?

Accepted Answer

Do I need to prepare anything for the course?

Accepted Answer

I will send you some material beforehand to help you think about what you might like to do but some very simple images, inspiration or reference material would be useful.

Question 6

What materials do you provide?

Accepted Answer

Your basic materials for the first project are all part of the course fee. These include a good quality 6mm block of Shina plywood, drafting film, carbon paper, pieces of rough paper, proofing paper and paper for your first small edition, high quality pigment paste and nori starch paste.

Question 7

Why do I need to sign up for the full course rather than week by week?

Accepted Answer

With a core group who will attend a majority of sessions, I can provide adequate, space, materials and take them through the whole basic process. Also, with 24 hours available, it's better value than a 12 hr weekend workshop for a similar fee even if you have to miss a few sessions.
