Description

Join us at the London Centre for Book Arts to learn the art of paper marbling.

An ancient technique of creating a surface design, most commonly onto paper, that mimic the look of smooth marble. Marbled papers have been used to adorn books for centuries.

In this class you will learn how to prepare your paper, set up your marbling bath, mix inks, and create a variety of marbled patterns. At the end of the session you will leave with a collection of hand-marbled papers and the skills to make more at home.

Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, we have taken the difficult decision to put on hold our workshop programme to ensure the safety of our visitors and community.

Our workshops (bookbinding, printing, publishing, and related skills) have always been at the heart of what we do. As a small organisation this is obviously a big challenge for us but we are confident that we will weather the storm and this is the right decision for us to take at this time.

We are in the midst of transforming the studio so that it is “Covid secure,” and we hope to welcome back visitors in the not too distant future.
