PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) is more than our child avoiding simple requests but can impact bodily functions, rapid mood swings, and impulsivity. Our children may be sociable, which often confuses people about diagnosis, but if they are PDA, then they could be struggling so much with things they may even want to do, but sometimes they just cant.
The PDA Society provide expert knowledge about Pathological Demand Avoidance, and are with us today to offer clear information of what it is and isnt, and how to help our child.
Pinpoint are the OFFICIAL Parent Carer Forum for Cambridgeshire providing help and information to parents and carers of children and young people aged 0-25 with additional needs and disabilities in Cambridgeshire.
Pinpoint have a dedicated part time staff team of SEND parent carers offering signposting and events for all things SEND and opportunities for parents to have a say and get involved in improving local services.
No formal diagnosis is required to access support from Pinpoint – a child may be on a waiting list, accessing services, had a referral turned down, or just be struggling.
You will be sent an email containing the Zoom link to access the session 2 days before, 2 hours before and at the start of the session. Please do check your junk mail and spam folders as these emails sometimes end up there!
Be comfortable at Pinpoint sessions - You can keep your camera off and stay on mute and simply join us and other parent carers who “get it” from your sofa 😊
