In mask theatre the old can be young again, and the young can play the old. Gender doesn't matter. :A small company can play many characters.
Performers focus on body, and movement, making stories more visual and universally understood. With the face hidden, every gesture becomes important, which sharpens both the performance and the audience’s focus.
Using Trestle Theatre full face masks, we will explore tension states, gesture, focus,mask characters and characters in masks.
Working alone and in small groups you will have the opportunity to create characters and devise short performances.
Mask is a close cousin of puppetry; visual theatre in which action speaks louder than words.
Emily has a PhD in writing for puppet theatre and over 20 years experience of leading performance workshops with all ages and abilities.
Suitable for theatre makers, directors, actors and teachers of drama and performance at any level.
Masks will be sanitised between users with alcohol based sanitiser.
