Event description

Description

Looking to live in the world in positive, affirmative, and sustainable ways? Looking to find new, inspiring and economically viable ways to build lives and communities?

Permaculture is about living lightly on the planet, in harmony with nature and making sure that we can sustain human activities for many generations to come.

Using a vibrant combination of theory and practice, our Introduction to Permaculture course will introduce you to

- observation techniques
- natural systems and patterns
- ethics and principles of permaculture
- permaculture design tools

What to expect

The course is informative and interactive. You will leave having designed a permaculture space, putting into practice everything you have learned. Additionally, you will have the grounding to be able to progress onto the full Permaculture Design Course.

Our setting is a listed building inside beautiful Morden Hall Park, a superb place to draw inspiration from nature within the city.

Facilitators

This course is facilitated by Liz and Sam

Liz is a mother, sustainability professional, eco-retrofit project manager, gardener, and chartered civil engineer with a Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design and has been teaching introductory Permaculture courses for 6 years. She has a thriving urban permaculture garden with a mini orchard, pond, hugel beds and much more. She also has a passion for alternative forms of education for children.

Sam’s passion for permaculture design started in Kenya after he completed a Permaculture Design Certificate. Permaculture presented a new set of design tools that inspired and shifted his perspective on the amazing possibilities of what can be achieved for people and nature through good design. This led to Sam managing Sutton Community Farm on the edges of London in 2012-16, which he helped turn into a successful community-owned business. Today, Sam works at Forum for the Future focusing on ways we can shift our food and farming systems to be radically more sustainable.
