Event description

Description

Permaculture works with nature as a guide to help creatively solve the problems we face and make the most of opportunities in our community and environment. It combines traditional wisdom and scientific method which can be utilised to live a greener life and create amazing projects.

More and more people are recognising that we are at great risk of plunging deeper and deeper into a series of ecological and human crises. In this introductory course we acknowledge this context and provide participants with a set of permaculture ethics, guiding principles and practical tools, techniques and examples that can rekindle hope and inspire positive and radical action.

Tutors

The course is taught by Luke Justice, Joy Justice, and Paul Paine. Luke grew up in Hockerton Housing Project and is now an urban farmer and community development worker in Leeds, currently at Meanwood Valley Urban Farm. Joy is a mediator, facilitator and researcher, and supports individuals and groups to apply social permaculture to projects and group processes. Paul runs Ecoworks at St Anne’s allotments in Nottingham.

Food

Included in the price are vegetarian lunches on both days, and snacks in the rest breaks. Please email permaculture@hockertonhousingproject.org.uk to let us know if you have any dietary requirements.
