Overview
Join us for a 2-day Introduction to Permanence training to increase knowledge, skill and practice in supporting better outcomes for children
Please note this training is for West Lothian Council employees.
This session is targeted to Children and Families social workers with a lesser experience of the permanence process for children.
The introduction to permanence training aims to introduce the concept of permanence, and why it matters.
Key objectives:
- Increase knowledge of the legislative and policy framework and available permanence options.
- Enhance skills to create child-centred permanence plans.
- Promote early intervention to achieve better outcomes for children ensuring they have a secure, stable, and loving family.
- To encourage the placement of children with prospective long-term carers at the earliest possible opportunity, reducing the negative impact of delays in decision-making.
- To provide opportunities for reflection on best practices, research findings, and the experiences of other carers and professionals to improve permanence planning and support.
The session will run 9.30am - 4.30pm both days. You must attend both days.
