Course Objectives

The aim of this two part online training series is to provide you with an introduction to product safety and risk assessment.

You will be introduced to product safety legislation, hazard identification and the steps required to complete a product risk assessment (in accordance with the General Product Safety Directive (GPSD) risk assessment guidelines).

You will become familiar with product safety requirements and challenges, including historical examples to illustrate various points. A practical task will be set, in between sessions, on a product of your choice (please select a product before the first session).

You are encouraged to ask questions and be as interactive as possible during these sessions. Please make use of the available resources which you may find beneficial to read through before the first session. The GPSD risk assessment guidelines are 64 pages, if you are limited on time please refer directly to pg. 51 on “how to pre-pare a risk assessment – in brief” and if possible, the examples that follow.

A PDF of the material being presented, and any handouts, will be sent to you the day before the sessions with a reminder of the log in details. Any information provided during these sessions and from other participants should be treated confidentially and by participating you agree to this. If you have any questions please do not hesitate in contacting me. I really looking forward to sharing this educational journey with you
