Introduction to Project Management Tools and Techniques

Project Management (PM) has been proven to be an effective method for delivering products within schedule, costs and resource limitations. This workshop aims to give you an overview of the skills and, in particular, the tools you can use to ensure your project(s) is (are) completed within its limits while giving the end user the product they want.

You will gain a working knowledge of the basics of PM and have the ability to use that to manage work projects, together with the various tools at your disposal that help with the PM process.


The learning outcomes are:
1. Learn basics of project planning tools and processes that can be applied to any project immediately


2. Understand the principles of a well-thought and well guided project, like scheduling tasks, activities, milestones and managing stakeholders


3. Recognise factors that will determine the outcome of the project i.e. if the project will be successful or not


4. Use tools learnt during session and apply them to mock projects. Tools include work breakdown structures, network diagrams, critical path analysis and Gantt charts.
