About this event

Join us at Wild Press for an introduction to Risograph printing in this dynamic workshop facilitated by our Designer and Print Technician, Lou Rowland.

Risograph Printing

Originating in Japan in the 1980’s as a standard office print and photocopier by the Riso Kagaku Corporation; Risograph printing has become increasingly popular with artists, illustrators and graphic designers thanks to its low cost, beautiful quirks and charm. The Riso process blends elements of screen printing and photocopying, using spot colours and stencils to create textured prints with vibrant results. Using soy-based, non-toxic inks and stencils made from banana leaf fibres, Riso is one of the most eco-friendly ways to print.

Workshop

This studio-based session will introduce you to the Risograph machine and printing process. You will learn how to produce artwork suitable for printmaking: Experimenting with collage and mark-making techniques to explore shape, line, form and texture. We will then support you with printing a 2-colour A3 edition from your final design.

All materials are provided but feel free to bring along any mark-making tools or greyscale printed images you’d like to use. No experience necessary. This workshop is suitable for professionals and beginners alike.
