Come and join us in Plymouth for a fascinating hands-on introduction to life on the rocky shore!

Running for the fifth year, this increasingly popular 2 day course takes place 9:30 am to 17:30 on Saturday the 26th October and 09:30 am to 17:30 - Sunday 27th October 2019.

Course Description: A basic introduction to the main groups of animals and seaweeds likely to be found on British rocky shores. This introduction will include an explanation of key identification methods, species confusions as well as a more in-depth look at some commonly found species. Through 2 field visits; interactive lectures and demonstrations; quizes and laboratory sessions, participants will become familiar with common species and learn how to identify and record rocky shore finds.

Course Tutor: Jack Sewell - The Marine Biological Association. Jack has more than 18 years experience working on the rocky shore and has a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm about the wide range of organisms you will encounter.

Who should attend? This course is aimed for those interested in rocky shore species at beginner - intermediate level but welcomes more experienced naturalists interested in brushing up their skills. Also suitable for teachers and marine educators, wishing to incorporate rocky shore work in their lessons and activities.

Parking: There are a small number of parking spaces available on site and these are available on a first-come-first-served basis (Disabled parking can be reserved if needed). Other parking is available nearby and public transport links to the lab are good.
