About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

As part of the Joseph Rowntree Centenary, Nick Smith - the Executive Director of The Rowntree Society - will be delivering a talk giving an introduction to the histories of the Rowntree family, their world-known confectionary company and their social reform work, including the three Trusts founded by Joseph Rowntree.

The Joseph Rowntree Memorial Library is the perfect setting for this event, as it was built as a memorial to Joseph following his death in 1925. It was designed by Joseph's architect cousin, Fred Rowntree and his son Colin, and was the library for workers at the Cocoa Works factory. The Rowntree Society and the Cocoa Works Concierge Team are delighted to present this opportunity for residents to learn about Rowntree histories.

This event will be taking place at the Joseph Rowntree Memorial Library, Haxby Road, York, YO31 8AE.
