About this event

Pop on your pinny and roll up your sleeves, this artisan bread course will have you baking classic staples and treats of Scandinavia…

Sara Ward trained as a Bread Angel with Jane Mason of Virtuous Bread back in 2015 followed by a Five Day Intensive Bread course and further Croissant & Viennoiserie training with Richard Bertinet at his Cookery School in Bath.

You will be welcomed to Hen Corner with fresh coffee and home made treats. Then, after an introduction to our time together, you will have opportunity to stroll around the garden visiting the chickens and bees, then off to the conservatory and kitchen to knead that dough…

Whilst the aromas of warm baking fills the air, and other batches are proving, we will enjoy a simple lunch to fuel us for the tasks of the afternoon.

We are pleased to bring you this London bread making course.

Recipes for the day include:

  • Solbullar – Sun Buns
  • Kardemummabullar – Cardamom Knots
  • Grotbrod – Oat Porridge Loaf
  • Froet Rugbrod – Seeded Rye Loaf
  • Knackebrod – Sourdough Rye Crispbread

Everyone goes home with their hand made bakes, recipes and the confidence to make more bread at home.

‘Sara is a wonderful teacher and fantastically knowledgable about all aspects of bread making.

I would definitely recommend this course. Have some tea, bake some amazing creations and enjoy all the compliments!’

‘Since moving into her West London home a few years ago, Sara Ward and her husband Andy have industriously set up Hen Corner, where they now have a stunning kitchen garden – with raised beds full of seasonal crops – fruit and nut trees, a flock of clucking hens and a beehive with busy bees hard at work making honey.’ Michele Jameson, Country Living Magazine

We are Hen Corner.

We love the bee keepers, the veggie bed diggers, the jam makers and cider drinkers, the chicken fanciers and the real bread bakers.

But not just in the deepest darkest countryside or the far, far away villages but right here in our cities and towns.

So, come on a course and join us on the journey…
