About this event
Learn to save seed from the crops you grow. This one-day workshop gives an introduction to why we should all be saving seed, and the basics of how to go about it, with opportunities for hands-on experience and a chance to see the farm’s various seed-saving projects.
The day will include a tour of the Market Garden, practical activities in the Community Garden, with fresh soup and bread for lunch, plenty of time for questions and chat.
This is one of our favourite subjects and we're excited to share it with you - join us if you can!
part of Our Seeds - the ongoing project to rebuild seed sovereignty in north Edinburgh

Accessibility Notes
This workshop includes crossing the farm to tour the market garden, and hands-on seed saving activities in the community garden. No heavy lifting. The ground is rough and uneven in the gardens and across the farm. We will be outdoors most of the time - be prepared for windy north Edinburgh! We have outdoor kit you can borrow (wellies, waterproofs, fleeces). We don't have microphones, but will be a fairly small group (under 20 people).
See below about ticket pricing and financial accessibility.

Frequently asked questions
Choosing to pay the higher Solidarity rate helps us make the event accessible to those who can't afford the standard ticket price. We suggest considering this if you are able to meet your needs with money to spare. Please take the discounted ticket if you need to.
There's no cafe on the farm. We usually have refreshments at our workshops and events - but you might want to bring more snacks to keep you going.
There is a spacious, level access, single cubicle, gender-neutral composting toilet in the Community Garden and the Market Garden.
