Description

Introduction to SEN Teaching (ISENT)

This 2 day course will raise awareness of the approaches taken by effective teachers and teaching assistants working with very challenging pupils in Special Schools. It will also have application for similar staff working in more challenging inner city and rural schools whose pupils exhibit extreme / disruptive behaviours.

The morning of the first day will cover Enhanced Safer Working Practices, Essential Character Qualities and Planning - as most Special Schools only offer long-term placement as a strategy to minimise disruption for their pupils and planning will be expected. Teachers and teaching Assistants will need a flexible attitude to their role, which may be wider in scope than in mainstream schools. A tailored Behaviour Management workshop will take place in the first afternoon. The second day will cover an enhanced SEND course in the morning, with opportunities to explore elements of the whole course through a range of interactive review tasks and scenario analyses in the afternoon.

Attendee should bring a lunch on both days.
