About this event

Are you a complete novice? Maybe you were taught at school but can't remember a single thing. Have you got a sewing machine still sitting in its box that you're not confident enough to use?

In this workshop, our friendly and enthusiastic team will guide you through the basics - from plugging in the sewing machine all the way through to a finished project that you can take home to show off your newfound skills. This is one of our most popular workshops!

During this workshop you will learn:

  • how to thread and operate a sewing machine
  • what the controls do
  • how to wind and insert the bobbin
  • how to change the foot and needle
  • straight stitching and turning corners
  • other types of stitches
  • basic troubleshooting and maintenance.

All equipment and materials provided.

This workshop is designed for absolute beginners - no experience necessary! You don't even need to own a sewing machine.

The small group size should allow plenty of time for you to ask questions or get some 1:1 attention as necessary.

You will be learning on our sewing machines. If you do already have a sewing machine at home, feel free to bring in the user guide or a photo so that our team can point out any major differences.
