About this event

Ecologist, Laurie Jackson, will provide a fascinating introduction to the small mammals of Sussex. Take part in a field session on live trapping, where you may meet some of the species face to face.

This course includes an overview of the ecology of small mammals, along with the field signs they leave, and the range of survey techniques available.

There will be a classroom component along with a field session to apply some of the survey techniques discussed.

No previous knowledge is required. The course is suitable for those with a general interest and those who wish to become more involved with small mammal survey and monitoring.

We will visit sites around Woods Mill to look for field signs of small mammals and practise survey techniques.

Laurie is an experienced ecologist, wildlife guide, writer and natural history trainer based in southern England. She has recently produced a fantastic Guide to Wildlife Surveying which is available to download from our website here.
