Introduction to Social Pedagogy will benefit youth sector professionals,within public, statutory and voluntary organisations.
What is Social Pedagogy?
Social pedagogy is about ensuring wellbeing through empowering and supportive relationships and holistic learning.
It focuses on the potential that each person possesses and looks at ways of enabling them to fulfil their potential and make a positive contribution to the community.
There are many examples in the UK and Europe of social pedagogy techniques being used successfully to support young people.
What are the aims of the course?
The session will provide a key insight into social pedagogy including its aims, theory and practice.
What are the benefits of going on the course?
At the end of the course participants will:
understand the historical and social context of social pedagogy
understand the aims of social pedagogy and some theoretical models
understand how the approach can be put into practice
have prepared a personal action plan and identified further learning opportunities
