Introduction to Sociocracy
Event Information
Description
This will be a rich introduction to Sociocracy, a governance system that supports healthy group process. Sociocracy has a strong focus on equality and effectiveness and is used worldwide in a variety of organisations; for-profits and non-profits alike. A way to be inclusive and get things done well.
The workshop leader is Ted J Rau, co-founder of Sociocracy For All and co-author of the Sociocracy manual Many Voices, One Song. This is a chance to learn about Sociocracy from an internationally known trainer on a rare visit to the UK.
In this workshop we will provide an overview over the basic concepts of sociocracy: how we make decisions, how we empower and connect teams and how we can improve continuously over time. We will do exercises and role plays so that everyone can experience the clarity, consideration and flow that sociocracy brings.

Venue
Phoenix Brighton is opposite St Peter's Church, 10 mins walk from Brighton Station and near many bus routes, such as 5, 25, 49 and 50. Unfortunately we have transport challenges that day. Cars will be challenged as there is a half marathon taking place in Brighton. Parking will be difficult. You could park and ride at Withdean Sports Complex car park, Tongdean Lane, BN1 5JD but allow plenty of time from Withdean as buses run every 20 mins and the journey takes 20 mins. The main train line from London is closed for upgrading, with rail replacement buses operating south of Gatwick. Trains along the coast should be running normally.
Teas and coffees are available to help yourself all day. You can bring your own lunch or there are cafes and convenience stores nearby.
Phoenix has disabled access to the Green Room but the disabled toilets are out of order due to building work. Toilets are up a short flight of stairs.
