Event description

Description

Sussex Cohousing uses Sociocracy for governance because it is organised, inclusive and has learning from experience built in.

Sociocracy is based on small circles (teams) of people who reach policy decisions by consent. Consent is similar to consensus but is structured to make it easier to reach decisions. Sociocracy monitors results so that decisions can be modified to better achieve the circle's aims.

Nothing about Sociocracy is very new, but it combines a set of really good practices. This workshop will offer an introduction to the system and how we work together.

Organiser Sussex Cohousing

Organiser of Introduction to Sociocracy Workshop - Sun 4th December

We aim to create a cohousing community of about 20-35 households: that is, a cluster of dwellings designed for a nourishing and sustainable lifestyle, where each household has private space but also shares resources, activities and responsibilities with other households. Together we will manage our community and develop good relations with the wider community. We will keep our community as accessible as we can to people who are committed to living and working together in this way, and encourage others to develop similar communities.
