About this event
This course provides an overview of what is meant by the terms ‘speech’, ‘language’ and ‘communication’, how these areas develop and what can be done to support children across KS1 & KS2 with development of these skills.
Aims:
- To give an overview of how speech, language and communication skills develop and what can ‘go wrong’
- To enable you to identify children in your setting with Speech, Language and Communication Needs
- To provide advice and strategies on encouraging development of speech, language and communication skills across KS1 & KS2
- When and how to access support from the Speech and Language Therapy service
Ideal for:
Any practitioners working with children across KS1 & KS2; teaching assistants, teachers and SENCOs.
This course is particularly useful for staff that are new to a setting or role supporting children or for those who would like to refresh their knowledge of speech, language and communication skills.
