Event description

Description

This course is for those thinking about branching out into Supervision. In particular it is concerned with considering what a practitioner may need to think about when making the transition into supervising, looking at how supervision differs from therapy, and looking at a model for understanding the supervision process.

Often once practitioners have been working for a few years they look to branch out into supervision. However, being an experienced practitioner does not necessarily mean that someone will make a good supervisor. Whilst there are some similarities between therapy and supervision, they are not the same and supervision requires a slightly different skill set and way of thinking to those needed in therapy.

This course will introduce supervision, its purpose and function, as well as the qualities that make for a good supervisor. It will then look at the question of how to develop a supervision relationship and look at a model of supervision to offer a framework for understanding the supervision process.

There will be a combination of teaching, discussion, experiential practices and question and answer sessions.
