Delivered by expert users of the data, this online training course will provide new users with insight into the content of GRADE dataset and how it can be used to address a range of interesting and policy-relevant research questions.

In Sessions 1 and 2, we will provide a high-level overview of the GRADE dataset, followed by more detailed introductions to each of its constituent datasets: the National Pupil Database, Ofqual qualifications data and Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) data. You will hear expert advice from experienced users of the data on how to get the most out of it, and see examples of some of the research we and others are using it for, including comparing teacher assessments to external exams and work on socio-economic differences in UCAS applications. We will offer a brief overview of the application process, and there will also be an opportunity to share your experiences, ask questions or get feedback on the feasibility of research questions you are considering.

In the optional third session participants will have the opportunity to book short one-to-one appointments to discuss questions relating to their own research questions or data applications. There will also be plenty of opportunities to ask questions in earlier sessions too.
