This event is free to voluntary organisations based in Kingston upon Thames, and £30 to those in neighbouring boroughs.

This session is aimed at new Trustees or for people who would like a refresher.

We’ll look at what's involved in being a trustee: the responsibilities of a trustee, and tools you can use to ensure good governance in your organisation.

Outcomes:

This session will enable you to:

• identify the roles and responsibilities of trustees/ management committees in the voluntary sector

• understand the key principles trustees must uphold in fulfilling their duties

• recognise the difference between Governance and Management

• Know how to use the Code of Governance as a tool for good governance

• Understand the liabilities and risks associated with different legal structures.

Maximum of 2 Trustees per charity.

This workshop is ideal for anyone who has recently taken on a Trustee role and wants to find out more about what’s expected of them, and for current Trustees looking for a refresher.

Training provider

Alison Ewart is Funding and Organisational Development Officer at Kingston Voluntary Action. She has extensive experience of working with voluntary organisations on governance-related issues. She has also worked in a number of front-line voluntary organisations, and as a Grants Manager in a charitable trust.
