Event description
TikTok is used to make a variety of short-form videos, from genres like dance, comedy, and education, up to a maximum duration of 60 seconds

About this event

JCI Sheffield is pleased to offer this introductory session as part of our leadership learning program.

The TikTok social media app is commonly associated as being used by young people as an outlet to express themselves through singing, dancing, comedy, and lip-syncing, and allows users to create videos and share them across a community. Videos have a duration time from fifteen seconds to one minute.

As a leader, a key skill is being able to connect with people and to be accessible. In this session, Mark Smith will explore what to consider when thinking whether TikTok is the right platform for you to be on personally and/or professionally and top tips on how to use TikTok.

Mark joined TikTok early in 2020 near the start of the first lockdown and relished using the platform as a break from working at home. As well as finding it a welcome escape creating funny short videos, he loved being able to put a smile on the face of others by sharing his videos which made his social media followers beg for more! He started using TikTok whilst serving as the 2020 JCI International Vice President assigned to Europe and believes it helped to convey his approachability and showed the importance of keeping a sense of humour, especially in such challenging times.
