Description

iTOE is a one day course offered to novices in echocardiography, which provides an opportunity to learn the basics of trans-oesophageal echocardiography (TOE). This will include acquiring probe manipulation skills, learning how to perform a basic TOE exam and understanding the basic principles of assessing cardiac valves and chambers. The course will include lectures, demonstration and hands on experience on the state of the art HeartWorks TOE Simulator.

Course Objectives

  • Learn the principles of trans-oesophageal echo.
  • How to perform a basic TOE exam.
  • Basic haemodynamic state assessment.
  • Basic assessment of cardiac valves and chambers.

The course is held at the Suttie Centre, Foresterhill, Aberdeen, and is currently only open to NHS Grampian employees. Course fee includes lunch and refreshments. Further details can be found by on our website at bit.ly/aa-itoe
