Overview

This 2.5-hour live presentation gives an understanding of the causes and effects of trauma on individuals and how this can inform support.

You will learn how both "big T" and "small T" events can cause trauma; immediate and long-term effects of trauma and how this understanding can help you support service users and clients in a variety of settings.

Mell Handley is a qualified and experienced trainer with many years’ experience teaching and training both in person and remotely. She has worked for colleges and Universities as well as delivering in-house training for employers throughout the UK.

Mell’s training always draws on her extensive experience in the health and social care sector, as she has worked in a number of roles supporting adults, children & young people through a wide range of difficulties. She has experience as a Safeguarding Officer, working with families who have been affected by childhood abuse. Since 2018 she has been part of Behind Closed Doors' Prevention and Recovery Service (PARS) providing emotional support to service users who are recovering from domestic violence and abuse.

She has a BA in Psychosocial Studies and Post-graduate Certificate of Education.
