INTRODUCTION TO VJING

This Short introduces students to the art of VJing, or real-time visual performance.
VJing is often used to accompany music or sounds. Through a series of live examples and references Francesco will introduce some of the fundamental aspects of the practice.
Furthermore, the second half of the lesson will focus on producing a simple VJing sketch using professional software.
This course is part of Electro Radical Alteration [ERA] an open platform for students and tutors to collaborate and experiment with sound, light and visual forms in unconventional ways. ERA takes place monthly and should facilitate an exchange of ideas.
Develop a literacy of the fundamental principles of audiovisual work
Acquire an understanding of VJing as a practice that can be applied to both professional/commercial work and experimental/artistic work.
Develop basic technical skills for the production of VJing work using a specific piece of software called VIDVOX
Francesco Tacchini is a London-based designer and researcher. He explores the impact of networks and computational processes on society, and the noise produced as a result of such impact.
Francesco is interested in experimenting with sound, light and visual forms in unconventional and dynamic ways.
Francesco lectures in Graphic Design and occasionally performs as a VJ.
